Chung Chi College students visited Qingyuan to promote public health

16 students of Chung Chi College participated in the Service Learning Programme (Mainland) in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province in China from June 24 to July 14, contributing their knowledge and energy to serve the local community.

The students visited the rural villages in Qingyuan to conduct a series of public health education activities and services, such as carnivals to promote health education to the local community. They visited backward villages in groups which helped to further spread the health messages to the villagers. They also organized various summer vacation activities like English tutorial classes and paper folding classes for the local primary school students.

After three weeks of service, the students established a strong bond with the local community. The trip was an excellent opportunity for the students to join together and take their love to the needy in Qingyuan.

Graduates from “Elderly Docents Training Programme” became official guides

The Art Museum of CUHK and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service (Hong Kong) Shatin Multi-Service Centre for the Elderly, jointly organized the “Elderly Docents Training Programme” in June. The programme covered not only the factual information about the exhibitions, but also the skills of tour guiding and risk management. Most participants did not have much experience as tour guides in a museum. After just one month of training, they showed incredible improvements in both guiding techniques and self-confidence. They also gained further knowledge of the operation of the museum.

Starting from July, graduates of the programme have become official guides, taking part in guided tours of the “Radiant Legacy: Ancient Chinese Gold from the Mengdiexuan Collection” exhibition. Their untiring attitude will definitely give the Art Museum a new source of energy and a special experience for the visitors.
